Christine Bean is a Costume Designer based in New York City. She is most known for her work as Costume Designer of the NBC hit series, The Blacklist, starring James Spader. Known for his impeccable custom designed wardrobe, Spader plays Raymond Reddington, an illusive criminal turned FBI informant. Each episode presents a new international villain and their associates. Some of the Blacklister guest stars have included Nathan Lane, Isabella Rossellini, Alan Alda, Krysten Ritter, Tony Shalhoub and Rachel Brosnahan.
Prior to her involvement in The Blacklist, Christine designed the costumes for many independent films, one of the most recent was Richard’s Wedding from Director Onur Tukel.
“Christine Bean has worked with some of the most talented and respected names in the industry so I was both surprised and thrilled that she agreed to design the costumes for my film, Richard's Wedding. Not only does Christine have amazing personal style and artistic vision, but she is committed to working as a team to understand and define each character. Her comedic comprehension allowed for subtle nuances to punctuate themes of the script, and her costume color palate enhanced the production value as a whole. I look forward to working with her many more times.” - Onur Tukel, Writer/Director Richard's Wedding
Beginning her career in Los Angeles with a degree in Fashion Design from FIDM, Christine got involved in the entertainment industry by interning in a television wardrobe department. From there she went on to work at Western Costume Company where she earned her union status, and then from Costumer to Assistant Designer. CSI:NY, The Dark Knight Rises, Mr Poppers Penguins, Arbitrage, Smash and Brothers & Sisters are just a few of the projects that she has been a part of in her bi-coastal career. Christine is proud to have worked her way up from intern to designer, having filled just about every position in the department at one time. Having this background allows her to not only create costumes that encapsulate a character, but to run a department more efficiently in the process.
Christine is a member of The United Scenic Artists, Costume Designers Guild and Motion Picture Costumers. She is eligible to work in New York and Los Angeles.
